La Casa Nova

For this project I was set with the task of designing and digitally illustrating a series of costumes for the comedy play La Casa Nova written by Goldoni. The play is a comedic depiction of of family dynamics and relationships during a moving house scenario. The play is set in 1760’s Venice and follows the story of Anzoletto a rich Venetian man and his family who have ran out of money due to Anzoletto’s erratic spending habits and indecisiveness. The play gives an insight into the 18th century upper class in Venice and the expectations surrounding marriage, money and love during the time.
